Are cryptocurrency donations available to all charities and nonprofits worldwide?
Cryptocurrency donations on JustGiving are currently only available to charities in the UK and nonprofit organisations in the US who are eligible to receive donations through the Blackbaud Giving Fund donor advised fund (DAF).
How do I know if my US nonprofit is eligible to receive funds from Blackbaud Giving Fund DAF?
The vast majority of 501c3 charities in the US are eligible to receive funds from the Blackbaud Giving Fund today. To check to see if your organization is eligible, navigate to the NPOConnect Platform Landing page https://nonprofit.yourcause.com/ and search for your organization in the upper right hand corner search box. If your organization is not listed in our database today, you may be able to have it added to by submitting a vetting application - Domestic Vetting Application Guide. Can my US nonprofit organisation who is processing on BBMS accept cryptocurrency? (US Only)
If your organisation is processing donations through Blackbaud Merchant Services (BBMS), you are not able to accept cryptocurrency at this time. However, we are working on making this payment option available to all US nonprofit organisations using JustGiving and plan to make this available to you soon.
How will cryptocurrency work with my charity’s reporting on JustGiving?
If you are on JustGiving’s Grow Plan and have access to reports, the donations will appear in your reports like any other donation made to your charity via JustGiving.
Any donations initially made using cryptocurrency are labelled as “Crypto” in the “Payment Type” column, to help you easily identify them.
What fees apply to cryptocurrency donations? (UK Only)
We apply our standard processing fees on cryptocurrency donations made on the JustGiving platform: 1.9% + 30p.
What fees apply to cryptocurrency donations processed through the Blackbaud Giving Fund DAF (US Only)
We apply our standard credit card processing fee on cryptocurrency donations made on the JustGiving platform: 2.9% .
Can people making donations in cryptocurrency add Gift Aid? (UK Only)
As per HMRC’s guidance, Gift Aid is not supported on cryptocurrency donations, as cryptocurrency is currently classified as an asset.
Can donors get a refund on cryptocurrency donations?
Yes, donors may request refunds for cryptocurrency donations. If a cryptocurrency donation is refunded, the donor will receive the equivalent value of the original donation in the same cryptocurrency. For example, if a donor donated 0.01 Bitcoin, which was converted to £41.21, a refund would be issued for the equivalent value of £41.21 in Bitcoin at the time of the refund.

Cryptocurrency fundraising on JustGiving is powered by The Giving Block, who support this growing list of cryptocurrencies.
Is cryptocurrency available on JustGiving Fundraising Pages, Campaign Page and direct donations?
Yes, cryptocurrency donations are a payment option for all forms of donations on JustGiving to UK charities and eligible US nonprofit organisations.
Will cryptocurrency donations appear on JustGiving Campaign Pages and Fundraising Pages?
The converted amount in traditional currency (e.g. Pounds or US Dollars) will show on JustGiving Campaign Pages and Fundraising Pages and be included in the page’s fundraising totaliser.
Is cryptocurrency available via Giving Checkout?
Yes, cryptocurrency is a payment option on Giving Checkout.
